Or is it a little bit of both.

I can't help but view everything and anything that has to do with Charlie Sheen. Like everyone out there is saying, "it's like moths to a fire," or is it light? I've never been good at remembering those sayings - ask the hubby.

I now follow him on twitter on (@charliesheen) and while some of his tweets are interesting, they're mostly something to skim through. Rumor goes that he's getting paid something decent for his tweets, but I don't see too much product placement besides his own endeavors.

His interviews are starting to sound alike and no new information is really coming out of his mouth except for some new vocabulary words that will look great on t-shirts and bumper stickers. He has thousands of viewers on his U-stream channel and those thousands are hanging on his every word/move. You do have to hang it to the guy, he knows how to keep everyone salivating, waiting for his next move.

With Charlie now officially receiving his "pink slip" from CBS, we should see some sort of a response that mentions trolls or some galaxy far, far away.

There are people badmouthing Charlie, saying Charlie needs help or rooting him along. I'm enjoying this media circus and I like Charlie Sheen a lot more now then I did before. I barely watched Two and a Half Men, so I can't reallly comment on that, but I do hope Charlie gets another show and that he comes out of this relatively unscathed.

He says what he wants to say and what he believes.

I'd like him around in the future.Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-62793991752503884392011-02-28T11:35:00.000-08:002011-02-28T11:35:12.692-08:00Mostly Sports with J.Owen: American League Central PreviewMostly Sports with J.Owen: American League Central Preview:

"Consistently one of the most competitive divisions in baseball, the American League's Central will not disappoint in 2011. They started and ended with their "hits".
They all started with their suits, but didn't end in their suits. I didn't like that. I think part of their appeal is the suits.

Rimac wasn't at capacity, which surprised me. They usually have a larger draw.

They played for close to an hour and a half and the crowd was into it, for the most part.

Some were too cool for school, like the normal San Diego fan.

The hubby and I were talking about the encore. I mean, is it even necessary anymore.
Everyone knows to expect it, everyone knows that they don't have to make that much noise to make it happen. I'd prefer a longer straight through concert than the obligatory, make some noise so they come back out.

Musicians, do you really enjoy the encore?Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-14561433424725557332011-02-02T12:46:00.001-08:002011-02-02T12:50:41.703-08:00White Stripes Comes To An EndI won't say I'm disappointed. They looked so cool. Dammit!

I went yesterday for the first time ever and wow - I loved it!

It was really crazy packed, but it was actually well-organized. I went for about 3 hours in the middle of my work day with my boss to do some PR of course and I just couldn't help walking around and checking out the costumes and the booths and just seeing what I can see.

There were some great costumes and some not-so-great. For the most part, everyone was super cool and all about the comics.

I grabbed a first pressing of Batman - The Killing Joke as a gift and I actually wanted to keep it. The cover was so cool. I found myself wanting to buy a ton of them actually. Got a super cool Superman t-shirt and took a few photos, but have yet to upload them. I promise, I will. The car that will be in the new James Bond movie was on display (300K) and damn, it was pretty. The Star Wars exhibit was unreal and I really, really like the huge statue-like thing of the Hulk.

But, um Teddy Scares? Ever heard of them? I stopped by their booth as I was with a huge fan of theirs and damn, they have some really cool merchandise. I got this super cool long-sleeved t-shirt/sweater. They have some awesome sketchbooks, patches and buttons. I'll have to check it out online.

But, I will be going back later today for an hour or so and I promise to take more and upload ASAP!Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-67680167686077825892008-06-18T10:35:00.000-07:002008-06-18T10:39:26.572-07:00Street Scene Line-up 2008i'm getting hits looking for this years line-up, so here it is.

to my knowledge there are still 2 day passes available for $75.

september 19 and the 20th - downtown, in the east village.

here's the line-up:

Beck, The Black Crowes, Justice, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Michael Franti & Spearhead, The National, Nortec Collective presents Bostich + Fussible, Spoon, TV on The Radio, Cat Power, Hot Chip, Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers, X, Vampire Weekend, The Hives, Atmosphere, Cold War Kids, Ghostland Observatory, Spiritualized, Antibalas, Man Man, The Mother Hips, Tokyo Police Club, DeVotchKa, The Night Marchers, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Del The Funky Homosapien, Eagles of Death Metal, Foals, The Muslims, Dengue Fever, MGMT, Sea Wolf, West Indian Girl, Chester French

they haven't announced who's playing on what day. and they probably won't for a good while, but get the tickets cheaper while you still can!Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-87864563209330819442008-05-15T16:37:00.000-07:002008-05-15T16:44:31.664-07:00LA Peeps: Raconteurs Pre-SaleSunday, May 18th!

They're playing at The Henry Fonda Theater.

It's through Ticketmaster, so you know the drill.

$25+

2 ticket limit

they go on sale FRIDAY, MAY 16th

Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm.

No password!Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-66510637218473457202008-05-02T09:48:00.001-07:002008-05-06T10:25:24.051-07:00Cut Copy at Red Bull Air Race Terminal 05/01/08Excited to head out and listen to some good music for FREE, we went out to the Terminal and arrived around 8:40ish. I was expecting it to be a little full, but nope, it wasn't. It was cozy, but it wasn't packed. They had 21+ sections where they were serving Beer and Red Bull mixed drinks and the place was decked out in Red Bull attire, including 21 year old stewardess'. Ok, maybe they weren't all 21, but they seemed like they were. :)

They had a DJ spinning and I have to agree with Cat Dirt, he was old. hahaha Cut Copy took the stage at around 9pm, not 8:40, like I was told (Sorry) and they did a great job. They had the kids dancing and clapping. Yes, clapping is totally in. I was impressed that such a small crowd had such energy, especially in San Diego. I've noticed that San Diego crowds tend to be a little subdued, so it was a refresher. OR maybe it was all the under 21 kids hopped up on Red Bull? Nah, I hope not. It was definitely a dance dance feel, but it felt so good. It was happy, well, at least I was happy. And I kept thinking New Order, Pet Shop Boys while listening to them. I really like the lead singer's voice even though at first it was pretty low and hard to hear. Thank goodness sound took care of that issue.

If you get a chance to see Cut Copy, I suggest you go. It'll make you feel all happy and warm inside to dance to music that borders from rock to electronic and back again. And the band gets into it and tries to get the crowd into it. I'm sure the crowd doesn't always need help in figuring out when to go crazy, but I guess sometimes people don't get it.

I didn't like that they had all the little girls on stage dancing. It annoyed me. I felt like it took away from the band in the sense that at the end, this girl gets up there, thinking she's all cool and looks like a complete idiot, lost on stage. Strange.

p.s. I like Cat Dirt's Review better!

=)Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-86662698420698400482008-05-01T13:10:00.000-07:002008-05-01T13:12:57.260-07:00Cut Copy playing tonight!Downtown San Diego (7th and Market)

Scheduled show time is 8:40pm.

and it's FREE!!!Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-24101602969551417482008-04-29T11:43:00.000-07:002008-04-29T12:05:26.051-07:00M.I.A at 4th and B April 28th, 2008I tried to pick up an extra ticket for a friend before the show, about an hour before the show, and the show was sold-out. There was a line that wrapped around the building and it was 8pm! The crowd was mixed with young and old, but mostly young - I guess they all saw the commercial!

I've seen here before and I've always had a great time, so I knew this was going to be a blast, especially after hearing about her performance at Coachella. I was/am still sick, but I couldn't miss. I thought it would bring my energy level pretty low, but after a drink or two, that didn't happen. I was a dancing fool!

The place was pretty full and it was HOT as hell in there. The drinks were stiff. She came on at about 10:15ish, a little late. But she brought it. I wish I could tell you every song she played, but I was way too into it that it all became a blur. She was dancing and singing and at times playing DJ. She had some of her crew come out and hose people down with water guns which was hilarious.

M.I.A had people jump onto stage for one song and that was chaos. My favorite part is that she was right in the mix and in the middle of that turmoil, still singing and dancing. She played for little more than an hour and ended her set with Paper Planes.

It was a great show, but I do wish she would have played more oldies. She has so many good songs to chose from.

p.s. yes i know this is a little shitty review, but hey, i'm sick! lolTaniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-66492319357591366952008-04-17T16:48:00.000-07:002008-04-17T16:52:51.288-07:00Eddie Vedder - Spreckel's Theater 04 16 08Eddie Vedder played last night at the Spreckles Theater in San Diego, Calfornia. It was the last show of his West Coast Tour - Sniper. He played for over 2 hours and had an array of stringed instruments. He played most, if not the whole album from "Into The Wild" and at one point, he brought out a "special guest." How great was it to see Emile Hirsch on stage! He hardly played any Pearl Jam songs and the ones he did play were the more obscure songs aka, not the hits. He played 3 songs off the "Harold and Maude" soundtrack and a ton of other wonderful acoustic songs.

<lj-cut text="A couple of pictures and some more about the show">

We all know Eddie Vedder is short, so it was crazy to see Emile standing next to Eddie and seeing that Emile is totally shorter than Eddie! Eddie looked a bit femme, but good. His hair was longish. I'm thinking he's still "in character" from the movie he is currently filming. Who knows.

Emile was on stage for two songs. One he just sort of sat there as Eddie sang a song he wrote about Sean Penn and Emile came back on stage for the last song, where he sang BACK UP! I was surprised as hell. I also noticed that Emile looked super awkward on stage. I'm sure he's never seen what it's like to be a well-known, well-liked musician on stage with their adoring fans singing along, standing, screaming, and crying out their name. It's definitely different than what he's used to, to a certain degree. You can tell that he was tripping out at the sight. It was rather cute.

If you can catch Eddie Vedder on tour - do it!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbmjOKCfPaaVicBfFRpxkSS8opnS8eycBvkPNMQKW9Nrv0xMha3gXbaZs1tw9twb9jgsyNpA0PVUofDhEJuZrvP1k6McCE3zS3vUGtOwremMkVNuMa9U8i6g8fLqwXsrlRcw3e0HYHMrs/s320/EddieEmile1%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5190366243812104722" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqN34UEbJML8FSVUVhr1MwujbF131Y4VeNkqljLHT9PItt7lfh3wKd5LvDSb8nlDpJn5vzxx-datZhkgmDHvbv-o-FdIHksBpCI0g2zQ56bNnFrWaasPTKOvZX98L8BWr1CVCx6DS9-Gs/s320/EddieHardSun1%5B1%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5190366248107072034" />

*thank you to my friend geoff who took the pictures!

</lj-cut text>Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-43425620943102669532008-04-08T13:24:00.000-07:002008-04-08T13:26:07.009-07:00STP Tour dates announced! This makes me very, very happy. This Spring

February 4 2008 • Text by Tomas Palermo

New York may be known as “the city that never sleeps,” but it's looking like Los Angeles is the city where art don’t sleep. This spring, Angelenos will have a whole lot of soul to stay awake for, as local collective Art Don’t Sleep has assembled some amazing music events in the coming months.

ADS’s five-part Soul Exploration live music and DJ series, held at The Crash Mansion in downtown Los Angeles, kicks off with a bang Saturday, (in conjunction with SOULPEOPLE) February 16 with a live performance from Philly-born, New York-based singer Bilal (of the Soulquarians), featuring SA-RA Creative Partners. Also performing that night is nine-piece band Orgone, celebrating its new album, The Killion Floor, on Ubiquity Records, and DJs Coleman and Al Jackson.

Part two of the dynamic, independent soul showcase goes down March 1, with PPP (formerly Platinum Pied Pipers) performing live, London’s Spacek Sound System, heavy L.A. emcee/producer combo Blu and Exile along with San Francisco’s DJ Sake 1, and J-Boogie with L.A. DJs Coleman and Aski.

On March 8, Art Don’t Sleep switches it up with the Cali party series featuring The Lions’ Jungle Struttin album release party and live performance. The night will also feature live sets from Ubiquity artists Nino Moeshella, veteran soul singer Darondo, and L.A.’s Connie Price and the Keystones, with DJs Jeremy Sole, Shakespeare, and Aurelito (I&I Soundsystem). That’s an insane live line-up!

March 15, Soul Exploration part three takes place, featuring a live performance by the legendary group RAMP (sampled by Tribe Called Quest and others), with all five original members. Also playing live are The Rebirth and Boogaloo Assassins with DJs Coleman and SOULPEOPLE’s Cid Hernandez. To put this night in perspective, the DC-based RAMP (pictured above) has been largely ignored in the U.S. since the '70s, playing mainly European gigs in recent years. But the popularity in recent decades of its Roy Ayers-produced classics “Daylight” and “Everyone Loves The Sunshine” has brought the group wider acclaim.

The Crash Mansion is located at 1024 S Grand Ave. at Olympic, downtown Los Angeles. Shows start at 9 p.m., are 21 with ID and covers vary.Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-13618621057108553062008-02-15T15:35:00.000-08:002008-02-15T15:36:05.008-08:00Eddie Veder - quick tour!Apr-02 The Centre Vancouver, BC
Apr-05 SC Civic Aud. The creative movement taking place in the city is reminiscent of a vibrant musical community of the 60's. In this spirit we are going to explore music from the past, present and future. ArtDontSleep is proud to present our first four events of 2008.

Satuday Feb. 16th, 2008
Soul Exploration I of IV
Presented by: KCRW, SOULPEOPLE and ArtDontSleep is proud to present our first four events of 2008.

Bilal [NYC] *Live*
featuring Sa-Ra Creative Partners

Orgone *Live*

DJ's
Coleman & Al Jackson

Located @ The Crash Mansion :: 1024 S Grand Ave. :: Downtown Los Angeles, CA.
20$ @ the door :: 21+ Wiser :: Doors Open @ 9pm
Info :: myspace.com/artdontsleep :: artdontsleep@sbcglobal.net
*early arrival suggested*

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.
- Edgar Allan Poe

Dig Deeper...

Bilal
Raised in Philadelphia, Bilal frequented hole-in-the-wall clubs till sunrise with aspirations of scoring film. His eventual classical training at New York City's Mannes Music Conservatory ensured him able to sing opera in seven languages as well as an extended musical vocabulary. Bilal is a young disciple of King Tubby and Jelly Roll Morton; music of the early twenties, that pitch and swing, the bass striding on all fours. "I am fascinated by the history of our music. Jazz is a whorehouse," Bilal says of the historical sin and salvation of the form. "The original booty shake." Perhaps he shall silence Wynton Marsalis and those conservative keepers of institution, naysayers of today's musical youth.

Eventually Bilal moved to Brooklyn and began gigging around the city. He is now a venerable member of the collective Soul Aquarians, along with folks like Badu, Mos Def, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, Q-Tip, D'Angelo. Bilal is by far an ArtDontSleep favorite and we couldn’t think of a better way to kick off our Soul Series. Prepare for your lives to be changed.

Sa-Ra Creative Partners
Experience and innovation. In the age of young thugs and one-hit wonders, these two traits are often missing from todays Hip-Hop. Not so, with SA-RA. The Los Angeles/New York-based group/production trio consisting of Taz Arnold, Shafiq Husayn and Om'Mas Keith have a term and a definition to describe their music, says Shafiq. “The term: Afro Magnetic Electronic Spiritualism. The definition: Black music.” Bear witness to the union of three of the freshest Angelinos to make music in the last decade.

Orgone
With a lively, evocative set of covers and original material, Los Angeles-based ensemble Orgone brought new attention to the funk revivalist and jam band circuits when they launched their recording career with Ubiquity Records in the mid- to late 2000s. Orgone's sound hosts a myriad groove-oriented styles, including but not limited to deep funk, '60s Memphis soul/blues, Fela-inspired Afro-beat, hip-hop, Latin jazz, and electronic dance and house. Many of the band's musicians started playing together in the early '90s, but Orgone did not develop into a tight-knit ensemble until the end of the decade.

Taniahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00999971861095386079noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8482172538863583248.post-13045267000546213972008-02-06T13:16:00.000-08:002008-02-06T13:18:16.037-08:00Bonnarro Line-up announced...June 12-15th in Manchester, Tennessee

Why can't we have a line-up like this for Coachella?
